Description
The Mediterranean diet, which has now become a UNESCO “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”, is more than just a diet, it is a real lifestyle.
It is based on grains, vegetables, fruit, milk and dairy products, dried fruit and seeds, legumes, fish, white meat and eggs. And of course extra virgin olive oil.
The latter plays a fundamental role in the Mediterranean diet: it protects the stomach, liver and arteries, promotes growth in children and slows down the aging process. It helps to fight oxidative stress that causes aging and various diseases, is anti-inflammatory and prevents cardiovascular diseases.
Extra virgin olive oil is the main fat food of the Mediterranean diet and it is its quality that makes all the difference.
This is well known by all those who, visiting Tuscany, adopt the tradition of drawing the famous “C” with the oil on almost all dishes. Behind this gesture, however, there is not only tradition and health, but also a lot of commitment, passion and research to create a product of excellent quality.
During this experience focused on the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, we will go to the Tuscan hills, walk amidst the olive trees and leave for a journey helping us understand and identify a good olive oil.
Together we will understand that nature must be protected and will appreciate how precious genuine food really is.
Taste different types of olive oil and learn what an excellent extra-virgin olive oil tastes like.
This experience will take place in the Carmignano countryside, a small village just outside Prato, full of art, archaeology, enchanting landscapes and examples of Etruscan civilization.
The experience is accompanied by a small tasting of local products.
Take home “olive juice” as a souvenir that will remind you of this town and its traditions.
