    Description

UMBRIA AND THE VILLAGE OF PIETRALUNGA

Umbria Oak treeUmbria, its nature, its aromas. The Pietralunga area consists of a series of hills and valleys covered by thick oak forests.

This pretty village is situated in the green Apennine countryside, just 30 km from Gubbio in the province of Perugia. It is a place rich in history and traditions.

Pietralunga is one of the stages of the pilgrims walking the path of Saint Francis. This spiritual route traces his multiple journey from Assisi to Verna.

It fascinates visitors for the splendor of nature that surrounds it, but also for the history and traditions that have shaped this place.

The area of the village includes, among others, the state forest of Pietralunga-Bocca Serriola, one of the largest forest complexes in Italy, in which there are two oases: the oasis of Varrea and the oasis of Candeleto.

Umbria is one of the smallest regions in Italy, but retains valuable pearls and intact traces of its past.

The best way to get to know the Pietralunga area, to get closer to its wild spirit and colourful landscape, is taking long walks, led by an expert from Leef Peeping, a naturalistic discipline.
Local hikers will often be there too, so that this is the best opportunity to get in touch with the residents.
