Description
SICILY IN A GLASS
Wine is history, culture and passion.
To get to know a wine and taste it means to fall in love with it and the story it tells.
Italy is full of passion, also and above all for wine and good food.
After all, when you imagine an Italian at the table, you imagine him in front of a plate of pasta and with a good glass of wine.
Italy, home of the wine, offers a great variety of regional wine traditions.
Sicily, land of sun and sea, is the largest of the Italian islands and is also one of the richest regions when it comes to history, art and tradition.
Great civilizations of the past met in these naturally beautiful places.
Wine and grapes have accompanied Sicily since ancient times.
The vine grew spontaneously in Sicily long before the arrival of the Greeks.
Most likely, viticulture was introduced to the island during the eighth century BC from the first Greek colonists, building the foundation for Sicily’s future enological wealth.
Already at the time of the Roman Empire, the Sicilian wines were among the most famous in the ancient world.
Among the most famous wines are the majestic Marsala, the very fragrant Passiti from Pantelleria and Malvasia delle Lipari, the Moscato from Nolo and Siracusa. Also famous are the grapes from Sicily with which Grillo, Inzolia, Moscato d’Alessandria or Zibibbo, Malvasia and Nero d’Avola are produced. These are the names of some of the most well-known grapes grown in Sicily.
